Mr. Bérubé had great confidence in his region and he wanted to provide it with something where people would be very proud to go. A place beautiful and exceptional for the region. His realization, Motel L’Escale, went on to become a great success. A success that more than one, in those years, thought to be impossible and even eccentric.

But, after twelve years of exploitation, Mister Bérubé sold his Motel in order to focus on his drilling operations. It was then, that a group of businessmen from Val-d’Or, which later would operate under the name of «Espaleau Group», acquired Motel L’Escale.

In 1991, the «Espalau Group» sold L’Escale to the profit of a Val-d’Or business man, Mr. Fernand Trahan. An interesting fact is to be considered here, it happens that Mr. Trahan was Jean-Paul Bérubé’s son-in-law (being the spouse of Marie Bérubé, eldest daughter of Mr. Bérubé).

In 1998, Motel L’Escale Hôtel Suite was the first Hotel establishment to be classified as a 4-star hotel in all Northern Quebec. 11 years later, the grand-son of Mr. Bérubé, Mr. Marc-Antoine Trahan, would aquire L’Escale Hôtel Suites continuing its story of excellence.
