However, about twelve years later, Mr. Bérubé sold the establishment to focus on his drilling business. The hotel was then purchased by the Espalau Group, a group of businesspeople from Val-d’Or.

In 1991, the Val-d’Or businessman, Fernand Trahan, became the owner while continuing the family story, as he was married to Mr. Bérubé’s eldest daughter.

In 1998, L’Escale became the first hotel establishment in Northern Quebec to be rated four stars. Eleven years later, Mr. Bérubé’s grandson, Marc-Antoine Trahan, acquired L’Escale and continued the family legacy in the hotel industry.

In 2023, a new era began for L’Escale with the arrival of Mrs. Lan Luong and Mr. Marco Thériault as the new owners. Longtime friends of Marc-Antoine Trahan, they took over with a strong commitment to preserving the family heritage of the establishment while adding their own personal touch to meet the expectations of modern guests.

Their goals are clear: to offer superior service and a memorable experience while maintaining the warm and welcoming spirit that has made L’Escale renowned since 1964. Lan and Marco aim to blend respect for tradition with modern innovations to make the hotel a must-visit destination for travelers.
